Preparing parents. Protecting children.

HELP WANTED

A few good homes! A few good homes – Daybreak Crisis Homes – made the difference between being abused or neglected to 250 children in the past 12 months. How? The families in these homes cared for these children at a crucial moment – when their parents realized they needed help and had no where else to turn. Since SCAN began operating Daybreak Crisis Homes, the need for this unique program has become more defined. Currently we have four respite homes to handle this short-term emergency care program. We need 10. With 10 homes, we could balance the demands on our respite homes as well as meet the growing need for this service. That’s why we’re appealing to you. We’re searching for a few good people who are willing to care for children from a few days a month to a few days a week as part of Daybreak Crisis Homes. As a licensed respite home for Daybreak, you would provide emergency, short-term care for children whose parents are troubled. These moms and dads are alone, have no one else to lean on and are struggling with a life crisis. Many of these parents are coping with post partum depression, a child in the hospital, the birth of a new child with no one to care for their existing children, or other emergency situations. The more respite homes we have available, the less burdensome the job is to any one or two respite families. As a respite family, you would receive a per diem payment for every child in your care. Becoming a respite family requires special training and licensure, as well as a number of background checks. If you’re interested in learning more, please call Daybreak at (260) 421-5004.
